Missouri Medicaid and GLP-1s

Missouri used to exclude weight-loss drugs outright. It doesn't now — Zepbound and Foundayo are preferred, Wegovy is not, and the criteria document says plainly why the state changed its mind. The unusual part is the approval clock: four weeks, then four weeks again, until you reach a maintenance dose.

  1. The reversal, stated plainly

    Missouri says what it used to do and what changed, in one sentence, at the top of the policy.

  2. Which drugs made it

    Context

    27 with a comorbidity, and the list of qualifying conditions runs to a dozen entries including pre-diabetes and prior stroke.

  5. Approvals run four weeks

    Every dose during titration is its own authorization. The clock only lengthens once you're at maintenance.

    Six months to climb to 1.7mg. Fail that and the claim denies.
