Missing a GLP-1 appointment can create a fee before medication ships
An appointment fee can arise without a medication shipment. Check the visit’s no-show policy and time zone separately from the subscription and pharmacy cancellation terms.
What this comes down to
- Record the appointment time zone and change deadline.
- Cancel through the specified channel and retain confirmation.
- A missed-visit fee and medication refund are different decisions.
Read the policy for the appointment you book
MD Live publishes a $25 cancellation fee for Routine Care visits canceled within two hours of the appointment. Wellness visits have a $25 fee inside 24 hours; Mental Health visits have a $50 fee inside 24 hours. Its treatment list places anti-obesity prescribing in Routine Care, at the physician’s discretion. These are MD Live’s appointment policies, not universal telehealth fees or medication charges.[1]
Record the appointment’s time zone, notice cutoff, cancellation channel, and possible charge together. Save the confirmation when changing the visit. A calendar reminder is useful, but it does not show that the provider received a cancellation. Ask how the service records your request if the appointment remains visible after you cancel.
Separate the visit charge from later orders
HHS advises asking the provider or insurer about telehealth costs before a visit because payment depends on the provider and insurance coverage. Ask a separate question about missed-visit charges: a quote for a completed consultation does not tell you the consequence of changing it late.[2]
When asking support to stop spending, identify whether you mean the appointment, a future membership charge, or a particular pharmacy order. Request separate confirmations where more than one exists. An appointment cancellation does not by itself establish that a recurring charge or an already processed prescription has been stopped.
Get help promptly if the connection fails
HHS’s patient guide recommends testing the device and internet, checking the visit instructions, and signing in early. It says to message the provider or call the office when the video will not start. Those steps can help the team resolve a connection problem before the appointment is treated as missed.[3]
HHS’s provider preparation guidance says patients should receive instructions on what to do if they cannot attend or either party has trouble connecting. Ask for that contact route before the visit. If a problem occurs, keep the time, error message, and support response as a record; this recommended record does not guarantee a fee waiver.[4]
MD Live says its cancellation fee does not apply to Medicaid or Medicare members and may be waived for emergencies or technical difficulty. The possible waiver is discretionary. Its rule should not be applied to another seller; obtain the decision for your appointment instead of assuming an emergency automatically removes the charge.[1]
For the separate task of ending recurring care, read membership cancellation versus refill cancellation so changing the visit does not leave a later order active.
Questions people actually ask
Can a fee apply without medication shipment?
Yes. A no-show or late appointment change can have its own fee under the visit policy.
Does canceling medication cancel the appointment?
Do not assume so. Request a separate visit cancellation and retain the confirmation through the specified channel.
Does an emergency guarantee a fee waiver?
Not necessarily. The policy may require timely contact and documentation, and the waiver can remain discretionary.
