Review the prescription before refilling Wegovy after an interruption

After an interruption, confirm the prescription the clinician wants you to fill before buying the old strength again. A refill available in the account is not itself a restart decision.

Educational content, not medical advice. Talk to a licensed clinician before starting any treatment.

What this comes down to

  • An old refill record does not determine the restart plan.
  • Confirm strength and presentation before pharmacy payment.
  • Ask separately whether an existing order can still be stopped.

The label directs a restart conversation

Wegovy’s patient information says that after missing doses for two or more consecutive weeks, patients should contact their healthcare provider about restarting treatment. Its prescribing information also addresses the possibility of restarting dose escalation. This is a clinician decision, not a purchasing shortcut.[1] For an example of separately billed reassessment, see formidableMD’s separate visit and medication fees. Its clinic menu does not determine the Wegovy restart instructions above.

Give the clinician the last dose date and the prescription information already on file. Ask which strength and presentation should be ordered now and whether a new prescription is required. Do not use a price offer, remaining refill count or previous maintenance prescription to decide the answer. If the gap began with a pen that did not complete an injection, keep that device complaint separate from the clinician’s restart decision.

Hold the purchase decision until the prescription is clear

Check whether a pharmacy order is merely saved, already paid, in preparation or dispatched. Request a hold where available, without assuming one is guaranteed. Ask whether the clinician has sent a replacement prescription and whether the pharmacy has removed or suspended the superseded order.

If a new strength or presentation is selected, obtain a new price and supply quote. An old estimate may apply to a different product or service arrangement. Confirm any consultation fee before scheduling; an interruption can involve a clinical reassessment rather than a simple administrative refill.

Keep the reassessment bill separate from the medication bill

formidableMD provides an example of a visit-based program: its care page and FAQ require reassessment for changes in medication formulation, frequency or dose, with medication costs separate from visits. That illustrates why a change can involve another service charge; it does not establish a fee or follow-up rule for every Wegovy buyer.[2][3]

Ask the prescribing practice which visit, if any, is required, what it costs and whether the medication has already been purchased. This guide concerns order timing and confirming a revised prescription. It provides no individual restart dose, titration schedule or guarantee that returned medicine will be refunded.

Ask for a written self-pay estimate if a reassessment introduces another care charge.[4]

Questions people actually ask

Can I use the old prescription as the restart plan?

The label calls for a provider conversation after a qualifying interruption. Confirm the intended prescription before purchase.

Will the new quote equal the old quote?

It may involve a different strength, presentation or reassessment charge. Request an updated itemization.
