Buying care

Monthly care does not always mean an automatically renewing subscription

Confirm who initiates the next payment. Some programs describe monthly care while requiring the patient to request or pay for each new period, rather than automatically debiting a saved card.

Educational content, not medical advice. Talk to a licensed clinician before starting any treatment.

What this comes down to

  • Monthly service cadence does not prove automatic billing.
  • A reminder is not the same as a completed payment.
  • Ask what must happen for the next prescription and shipment.

Two official examples require patient action

LifeRx.md’s terms say services must be requested and paid for monthly, without automatic renewal or subscription. Patients must initiate contact each month to continue. Its weight-loss page also advertises no membership or subscription fees. That does not establish the contents or billing unit of every starting-price quote.[1][2] The LifeRx’s payment and itemization review records the distinction between the program headline and third-party product charges.

Genesis Lifestyle Medicine’s FAQ says patients receive monthly renewal notifications and provider review. If eligible, patients can continue, but the monthly prescription is not automatically debited; payment must be processed by the patient. Confirm whether that process changes for a selected longer plan.[3] For an arrangement with a separate access fee, also check fees that continue while a refill form waits rather than assuming no medication order means no charge.

Ask what completes the next purchase

Find out whether the next period needs a clinical form, a payment authorization, an appointment or several steps. Record where each step occurs and when it must be completed to avoid a delivery gap. A reminder email does not establish that a prescription has been approved, paid for or shipped.

Ask whether the card is stored, whether any separate charge can occur automatically, and whether a longer-plan purchase collects future care upfront. Patient-initiated monthly payment is not a reason to assume every product on a broad website follows the same arrangement.

Plan both continuation and stopping

If you intend to continue, put the required patient action on your calendar alongside the clinician-confirmed covered supply. If you intend to stop, ask whether an outstanding order already exists and whether a separate service or prepaid plan remains active.

This differs from canceling an automatic subscription: first establish whether there is one. Keep the actual terms and order confirmation, since a recurring shipment description or a monthly marketing label alone does not answer who authorizes the next debit. A clinician should handle any treatment interruption separately.

LifeRx’s return policy separately restricts returns of dispensed or shipped prescriptions and makes pre-dispensing cancellation conditional. No automatic renewal does not create a return right for a purchase already processed.[4]

For the related buying question, read monthly and four-week billing calendars.

Questions people actually ask

Does monthly always mean automatic renewal?

No. LifeRx and Genesis describe patient action before monthly continuation or payment.

Does no automatic debit mean an old order can be returned?

No. Already processed or dispensed orders follow their own cancellation and refund rules.
